Anna Jeanine Kim
Anna Jeanine Kim is an American journalist and writer. Her work examines systems of health and public safety, and the experiences of survivors of sexual violence, homelessness, and incarceration. A National Geographic Explorer, she also writes about nature, environmental history, and wetland restoration. She has reported for National Geographic, the Chicago Tribune, and newspapers across the Midwest.
In 2017, her investigation into Missouri police’s failure to examine evidence in sexual assault cases led to legislative reform and a statewide audit uncovering over 7,000 untested rape kits.
Originally from Iowa, Kim is an AmeriCorps VISTA alum and holds a degree in investigative journalism from the University of Missouri. She is currently pursuing an M.S. in Media, Medicine and Health at Harvard University.
